I'm a proud mom of six, a loving partner, and a devoted Bowen Island local. I created the Ocean Forest Retreat as a space where guests can slow down, breathe deeply, and rediscover what truly matters.
I believe that a healthy, connected life ripples outward — and I want every guest to leave feeling more alive than when they arrived. Nature and community are at the heart of everything I do here, and I hope you feel that from the very moment you arrive.
Island Life
Only 20 minutes by ferry from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver, Bowen Island feels worlds apart. Old-growth forest, dramatic coastline, artisan cafés, and trails that take your breath away — in every sense.
Judith's Local Guide
No franchises, no fast food — just fresh West Coast cuisine, craft ciders, and local flavour. These are Judith's personal recommendations for the best food and drink on the island.
This charming coffee-shop restaurant on the pier has become one of the island's most beloved spots. Owners Zac and Renée moved from Australia to open a restaurant focusing on made-to-order healthy food — strong vegetarian and vegan offering while serving meat-eaters equally well. The menu rotates seasonally. Kids welcomed with toys on the pier. A true gem of Snug Cove.
A beloved island institution with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and stunning views. The perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring — great food, cold drinks, and the kind of laid-back West Coast vibe that makes Bowen so special. Watch for live music and special events!
Over 30 years, the Riley family planted nearly a thousand varieties of heirloom apples on Bowen Island. In 2021 the cidery opened its doors, and their Sip & Tell cider went on to win gold at the International Brewing Cider Awards. Come enjoy the outdoor patio with your own picnic and a glass of something very special.

Getting Here
Take a short ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver. BC Ferries operates frequent service every 1–2 hours between Horseshoe Bay and Bowen Island's Snug Cove. The crossing takes approximately 20 minutes and offers scenic views of Howe Sound and the North Shore mountains.
If you brought a car, lining up for the ferry in Snug Cove can feel a little chaotic — especially in summer. Aim to be in line at least 30 minutes before your sailing. Never park on the yellow cross-hatches on the road. Boarding order goes foot passengers first, then motorcycles, then vehicles.
If you're in the zipper lane above Village Square near the school, the two lanes merge near the bottom of the hill — just be patient, it'll be clear when you get there. If you weren't parked past the school, chances are good you'll make the ferry.
